Nam June Paik stood in front of a running projector during the New Cinema Festival I held at the Film-Makers’ Cinematheque in New York, and Peter Moore photographed the scene. An installation of the same title consists of an endless loop of an unexposed film running through a projector. The resulting projected image shows a surface illuminated by bright light, occasionally altered by scratches and dust particles on the surface of the damaged film material. When the viewer stands in front of the projector, the person’s contour and movement become part of the performance.
