MS-Fluxussus (Symphony No. 7) is a performance in which Nam June Paik manipulates a radio-controlled violin set afloat. A flyer for the performance states that it is an “Omaggio a Joe Jones,” a fellow Fluxus musician and collaborator known for his music machines made from found instruments. Paik’s performance is given a title that evokes the naming of a machine. First performed in Dusseldorf, the violin was fished out and played by other musicians. Paik later performed the piece with other musicians under the title “Aqua Quartette” at Museum Island Hombroich, in Neuss, 1986.
